Miele's own troubleshooting names three situations behind F50 on a dryer. The most common is simply too much laundry for the program selected – the capacity for Normal or Cottons is far higher than for delicate, shirt or wool programs. The second is a brief software hiccup that shows up about a minute after the door has been opened; switching the dryer off and on again straight away clears it. If neither applies, Miele treats F50 as a technical fault that needs its service team, because the owner can't see which part the control flagged. Don't mix it up with F50 on a Miele washer, which is a motor fault.

Was the door just opened, was the dryer freshly loaded, or did it stop mid-cycle? Miele's advice depends on exactly that, and the service team will ask.
Power-cycle the dryer
Switch off with the On/Off button and back on right away. A glitch after opening the door is cleared this way without losing anything but the program selection.
Match the load to the program
Cottons and Normal take the full drum capacity; Permanent Press, Shirts, Delicates and Wool take much less. Weigh a typical load once on a bathroom scale to get a feel for it – dry weight is what counts.
Split bulky items
Dry a king-size comforter or a heavy blanket on its own, or use the program Miele provides for it. Zip and button covers so they don't swallow other laundry and turn into one heavy ball.
Test with a half load
Run Cottons with a half load of towels. If F50 appears again with a light load and a closed door, the fault is technical – note the model number and book service.
