Some LG refrigerators have a second fan in the fresh-food section in addition to the freezer fan. It spreads cold air through the rear duct and the vents along the back wall or ceiling of the fridge compartment, which is what LG's multi-vent and door-cooling designs rely on. Fix it step by step
Compare both compartments
Put a thermometer in the middle of the fridge and one in the freezer for an hour. A freezer near 0°F with a fridge climbing toward 45°F fits Er rF. If both are warm, look at the freezer fan and defrost side too.
Clear the back wall
Move containers away from the vents on the back wall and ceiling of the fridge section and check them for frost. Tall jars or bags pressed against a vent trap moisture there and can let ice creep into the duct.

Check the center seal on French-door models
LG French doors close against a hinged flap (the flipper mullion) on the left door. If it is folded the wrong way when the door shuts, humid kitchen air flows in all day and frosts the fridge duct. Fold it back into position and make sure both doors close on their own.
Defrost the way LG recommends
Take out the food, empty the ice bin, unplug the refrigerator and leave the doors open for at least eight hours. Put towels on the floor and in the crisper area to catch the water.

Why does LG say to empty the ice bin before defrosting?
During a long defrost with the power off, the ice melts and can flood the ice compartment and the floor. Emptying the bin first avoids that mess and a later ice jam.
Why does Er rF show up more in humid weather?
More moisture reaches the cold duct each time the door opens, and it freezes on the fan or vents. A folded center seal or a door that doesn't close by itself makes this much worse.
