On some 1.5L and 2.0L EcoBoost engines in the Escape, Fusion and Edge, coolant seeping into a cylinder is a known cause: the engine misfires for a few seconds after a cold start, often with white smoke, while coolant slowly disappears. Check the coolant level and pull the plugs before replacing coils.
