Samsung Oven Error C-F2 – Causes & Fix
The touch control and the main board stopped talking to each other; a long power reset often clears it.

Samsung ranges use a touch/display board at the control panel and a separate main board that switches the heat. Codes starting with C-F cover communication faults between them, and C-F2 specifically points to the link between the touch panel side and the main control board. When messages stop arriving, the range beeps, shows C-F2 and may ignore keys or react to the wrong one. A power glitch is the most frequent trigger and a proper reset – several minutes without power – fixes many cases. When the code keeps returning, the ribbon or harness between the boards, the touch board or the main board needs to be checked.
How it looks on the display
Model families & display variants
| Model family | Shows | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung gas and electric ranges with touch controls | C-F2 | Common on front-control slide-ins and freestanding models with a glass backguard panel. |
| Displays without the dash | CF2 | Same code; also seen written as C F2. |
| Related communication codes | C-F0 / C-F1 | Same family of board-to-board communication faults; the reset and connector checks are the same. |
Safety first · Consult a professional
Unplug the range or switch off its breaker before removing any panel – the main board carries 240 V. On gas models the boards can be reached without touching gas parts; if you smell gas at any time, leave and call your gas utility from outside.
- Unplug the appliance or switch off the breaker before opening any panel. Mains voltage can kill.
Symptoms
- C-F2 on the display with repeated beeping
- Touch keys don't respond, or a different function reacts than the key pressed
- Oven and cooktop functions controlled by the panel are unavailable
- Code appears after a power outage, a surge or cleaning the control glass
- Wi-Fi/SmartThings connection drops out at the same time on connected models
Possible causes
Ranked by how often each cause is behind this code (editorial estimate).
- Temporary communication glitch after a power interruption or surge
- Loose, corroded or pinched harness between the touch board and the main board
- Touch/display board failure, sometimes after liquid reached the panel
- Main control board failure
- Outdated control software on Wi-Fi models
Fix it step by step
Record when the code appears
Note whether C-F2 shows up right at power-up, while cooking, or when you touch a certain area of the panel. Immediate return at power-up usually means a hardware fault rather than a glitch.
Check the panel for damage
Look for cracks in the glass, discolored areas or signs that liquid got behind the panel. Physical damage to the touch board means it needs replacing regardless of the connectors.
Tools: Flashlight
Reseat the board connectors
With power off, open the control area (rear console on freestanding models, the front panel on slide-ins) and find the harness running from the touch board to the main board. Unplug and firmly reseat each end, looking for green corrosion or bent pins.
Tools: Screwdriver, Flashlight
Follow the harness
Trace the cable along its route and check for spots where it's pinched by a panel edge or has been heated near the oven vent. A damaged cable gives intermittent C-F2 that comes and goes with temperature.
Tools: Flashlight
Replace the faulty board
If connectors and cable are good, the touch board is the more common failure, especially if keys also misbehave. A technician can confirm with Samsung's service mode before you order the main board.
Tools: Screwdriver
How to reset C-F2
- Unplug the range or turn off the breaker
- Wait at least 3 minutes (up to 15 for a stubborn code)
- Restore power, wait for the display to settle, then test a few keys and a short bake

When to call a technician
Call Samsung service or an independent technician if C-F2 returns after a long power reset and a connector check, or if the panel is cracked or has had liquid behind it. Warranty service is worth checking first, since board failures on newer ranges are often covered.
Frequently asked questions
Can I still use the range with C-F2?
Usually not the oven, since the main board isn't getting commands. On gas models with mechanical burner knobs the cooktop may still light; on touch-controlled cooktops it won't.
Why does C-F2 come back after a short reset?
A 30-second reset often isn't long enough for the boards to fully restart. Leave the range unpowered for several minutes; if it still returns, the fault is physical.
Does cleaning the control panel cause C-F2?
It can. Spraying cleaner directly onto the glass lets liquid seep to the touch board's edge. Spray the cloth instead and dry the panel afterwards.
Is C-F2 related to E-08?
No. E-08 is about the oven not reaching temperature, while C-F2 is a communication fault between two electronic boards. They can appear on the same range, but their causes are different.
