dE is LG's door error. The washer needs two signals before it fills: the door switch saying the door is shut, and the lock switch saying the latch bolt has moved into place. If either is missing or drops out during the cycle, it shows dE – with a digit on many models, where dE1, dE2 and dE4 roughly separate a door-closed signal problem, a lock that won't engage and a lock-switch fault. On LG front-loaders the heavy door can sag and its hook can crack, so the latch doesn't seat. When the hook and closure are fine, the lock assembly is the usual part to replace.

Fix it step by step
Close with a firm push
Open the door, check that no clothing is caught in the gasket and close it with a firm push near the handle. LG front-load doors are heavy; a gentle swing often stops just short of the latch.
Check the hook
Look at the hook on the inside edge of the door. It should be straight, uncracked and spring back when you press it. A cracked hook is common on heavily used doors and can be replaced on its own on many models.

Tighten the hinge
Lift the open door gently. If it moves up and down, tighten the hinge screws on the cabinet side. A sagging door lets the hook ride low and miss the lock.

Clear the Child Lock and retry
Make sure CL isn't showing – that's the Child Lock, not a fault. Then power off, unplug for a minute and try a Rinse+Spin to see whether dE returns.
Inspect the lock wiring
Unplug the washer and remove the top panel (screws at the back). Reach down to the plug on the door lock beside the door opening and reseat it; check the wires for breaks where they run along the gasket.

Swap the lock assembly
Release the gasket's front clamp, fold the gasket back at the latch, remove the two screws beside the lock opening and pull the lock out from inside. Move the plug across to the new lock and refit the clamp evenly so the gasket doesn't leak.
